Vicinity Map of NCDOT proposed bypass. Printable copy available for download on left side of this page.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) proposes to build a bypass of NC 24-27 around the town of Carthage in Moore County. This project will begin at Kelly Plantation Road (SR 1640) and terminate at Priest Hill Road (SR 1653); completely bypassing the downtown area, (See Vicinity Map). A two-lane roadway is proposed for this project. The purpose of this project is to increase capacity along the NC 24-27 alternative in the vicinity of Carthage and reduce through and truck traffic on existing NC 24-27 in downtown Carthage.
